Nikon EN-EL3E Battery OVERVIEW The Nikon EN-EL3e Rechargeable Lithium-Ion Battery provides 7.4V, and can store 1410mAh of power – that translates into over 200 shots on a charge. The battery is compatible with Nikon D50, D70, D70s, D80, D90, D100, D200, D300, D300S, and D700 SLR Digital Cameras. I recently bought a replacement EN-EL3e battery from Amazon. They are being sold as genuine Nikon. However, I suspect they may be fake:- 1) The label on the back indicates 1.14Ah rather than 1.41Ah. i.e the last two digits are transposed. 2) The hologram does not have the usual 4 distinct notches around the edge. There are 4 hard to spot slight indents rather than notches, but they do not look like the ones on my old battery. 3) The letter ‘i’ in the word ‘Nikon’ in the center line of text on the hologram has no gap between the dot and the vertical line. i.e. it looks more like the letter ‘l’. The gap is present in the letter on the first and third lines (see photo). 4) The text in the hologram on my old battery looks green when the light is at a certain angle. The hologram on the suspect battery appears different. 5) The plating on the contacts look like bright nickel rather than the dull finish on my old genuine battery. 6) The printed sheet that comes with the battery was not accurately folded.
